Xavier Teaching School Hub

Dear Year 2 ECTs, mentors and induction tutors,

Thank you to those of you who have been posting your thank you messages on our Instagram. It is lovely to read about of all the wonderful support you are receiving from parents, mentors, friends and colleagues and the wise words shared to support your wellbeing. Keep them coming! Afternoon tea for both yourself and your nominated person at The Ivy is at stake. The messages are a lovely way to express your gratitude to others, so please follow xaviertshub on Instagram, post your ‘thank you’ and share to be in with a chance to win!

Please find attached the bulletin for the week commencing 26th June, together with guidance for completing end-of-year assessments.  Please note that the end-of-programme survey referred to on the bulletin is for all of you – ECTs, mentors and induction tutors – and not just ECTs, so please do take a few minutes to click on the link below and complete the survey, if you possibly can.  Many thanks.

End of programme survey

Strike days: Guidance for ECTs – As you may be aware, the National Education Union has announced two further upcoming strike days – Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July.  To strike or not to strike is a personal decision for each teacher.  As an ECT you have every right to strike, if you wish to do so.  If you need any guidance or support, please speak with your school leaders and/or your union.  If you have had quite a number of days’ absence this year, it is our responsibility to make you aware that strike days do count towards the total number of absence days permitted before induction must be extended (please see paragraph 3.6 of the DfE’s statutory guidance relating to Induction for early career teachers Induction guidance).

Do you know any Primary teachers who are looking for a job for September? We have been contacted by a number of schools who unexpectedly have vacancies in their schools. If you know of any ECTs who are leaving their schools and do not have a job for September yet, please contact c.carr@xaviercet.org.uk.

Have a good week, everyone.
